The Challenge: This excavation contractor had implemented an all-in-one ERP system that claimed to manage both financials and operations. However, it fell short on both fronts—particularly in supporting field operations—resulting in inefficiencies, user frustration, and unreliable data. The system lacked flexibility, had poor UX/UI, and was not well suited to the complex structure of the company's three operating divisions.SolutionAfter a comprehensive discovery process to understand the company’s organizational complexity and workflow requirements, we recommended a dual-platform SaaS strategy:

  • Accounting: A construction-specific cloud-based accounting platform built for subcontractor needs.
  • Operations: A dedicated construction operations platform with excellent UX/UI and easy configurability to support field adoption.

Results: To ensure end-to-end workflow efficiency, it was recommended that connecting the operation system with the companies existing estimating software and the finance and operating solutions using a combination of native and custom APIs, enabling seamless data flow across estimating, operations, and finance.ResultsThe new system architecture is now being deployed company-wide, with early outcomes including:
